SPE ChargePlus

SPE ChargePlus builds golf cart battery chargers with selectable voltage profiles. Match the charger to your pack voltage and chemistry; a lead-acid profile will not correctly charge a lithium pack.

Choosing a ChargePlus charger

Every SPE ChargePlus charger here is built for one cart plug and programmed for one battery type, and both are in the title. Pick the listing that matches three things on your cart:

  • The receptacle. Club Car 3-pin 48V, the 36V Club Car and Yamaha plug, the E-Z-GO D-shape 36V, triangle 48V and TXT/Workhorse 48V plugs, the Yamaha G19/G22 and Drive/G29 plugs, and STAR EV.
  • The pack voltage. Six 6V batteries are 36V; six 8V or four 12V are 48V.
  • The battery type. Flooded, AGM, gel or lithium. A lead-acid profile will not charge a lithium pack correctly.

The E-Z-GO ELiTE lithium charger suits factory ELiTE batteries only, and the Club Car lithium unit does not suit factory Vanguard lithium.

Universal units and cables

The 36V and 48V universal chargers end in a gray SB175 connector for carts already converted to one; the 24V unit is for lifts, scrubbers and pallet jacks, not golf carts. ChargePlus SB50 pigtail cables put a new cart plug on a working charger whose lead ends in an SB50, adding five feet of cable. They are in charger cables.

SPE ChargePlus FAQ

Can I change the battery type on a ChargePlus charger?

Each ChargePlus unit is supplied programmed for the battery type in its title: flooded, AGM, gel or lithium. Choose the listing for the batteries you have.

Which ChargePlus plug do I need?

The one that matches the receptacle on your cart. Look at its shape, pins and color. E-Z-GO and Yamaha each used two different 48V plugs, and each has its own listing.

What is an SB50 pigtail?

A five-foot cable with an SB50 connector on the charger end and a cart plug on the other. It replaces a damaged plug and lead on a charger whose output ends in an SB50, and carries no charge programming.
