How To Use

Four picks to your cart’s value

The calculator does the pricing math. You just describe the cart accurately.

1

Pick brand, model & year

Not sure of your exact model year? Run the serial number decoder first, then come back.

2

Set condition & battery

Be honest about condition and battery health, they are two of the biggest swing factors in the final number.

3

Check any modifications

Lift kits, custom wheels, enclosures and other upgrades each add value, the tool stacks them up to a cap.

What this golf cart value calculator does

This golf cart value calculator estimates what a used cart is really worth right now, both the private-sale range you could list it for and the lower dealer trade-in a shop would offer. Pick your brand, model, and year, then refine by condition, battery health, and any modifications. The numbers are anchored to real aggregated listing data, not a guess.

Most “blue book” lookups don’t cover golf carts. We built our own pricing model from thousands of live and recently-sold listings across Golf Cart Resource, ATV Trader, Equipment Trader, and dealer inventory feeds, then layered on a depreciation curve so every model year gets a fair figure.

How golf carts depreciate

A new golf cart loses roughly 18% in the first year, then about 8-10% per year after that, before flattening onto a usable-cart floor. Unlike a car, a 12-year-old cart with good batteries still holds real value because the platform barely changes. Here is the retention curve our calculator uses, shown against a $10,000 cart:

AgeValue Retained$10k Cart
0 yrs100%$10,000
1 yr82%$8,200
2 yrs74%$7,400
3 yrs67%$6,700
5 yrs55%$5,500
8 yrs42%$4,200
10 yrs37%$3,700

This is why a 5-year-old cart typically sells around 55% of its original price, while battery condition can swing the final number by $1,000 or more either way.

What moves a cart’s value most

  • Battery type & age. A fresh lithium pack can add 20%+; tired lead-acid batteries subtract just as much.
  • Condition. Excellent vs rough is roughly a 45% spread on the same model year.
  • Modifications. Lift kits, street-legal packages, rear seats, and custom wheels each add value, our tool stacks them (capped at +30%).
  • Power type. Electric carts with healthy packs generally out-resell gas in residential markets.

Trade-in vs private sale

Expect a dealer trade-in to land roughly 62-78% of private-party value, they need margin to recondition and resell. Selling it yourself nets more but takes time and effort. The calculator shows both so you can decide. Want to know exactly what model and year you have first? Run our serial number decoder, then come back here.

Once you know the value, see the full picture: the lithium savings calculator shows whether a battery upgrade pays off before you sell, and our buyer guides walk through new vs used and what a cart should cost. Our database currently covers 18 of the most-listed models across E-Z-GO, Club Car, Yamaha, ICON, Evolution, Star EV, Cushman, Bintelli, and Advanced EV, refreshed regularly so your estimate reflects the current market.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Kelley Blue Book for golf carts?
No, KBB and NADA do not list golf carts. Our golf cart value calculator fills that gap using real aggregated used-listing data (median, dealer quartiles and sample size) plus a depreciation curve, so you get both a private-sale and a trade-in estimate by model, year and condition.
How much is my used golf cart worth?
It depends on brand, model, year, condition and especially battery health. As a rule, carts retain about 82% of value after year one and 55% after five years. Enter your details above for a specific private-sale range and dealer trade-in figure based on current market listings.
How accurate is the value calculator?
It’s anchored to real aggregated listing data with sample sizes shown alongside the result, not a guess. When a specific year has a thin sample, the tool flags it so you can treat the number as indicative rather than exact.
What is the difference between the private-sale range and dealer trade-in?
The private-sale range is what you could realistically list the cart for yourself. Dealer trade-in is lower, typically 62-78% of private value, because a dealer needs margin to recondition and resell it.
Does battery condition really change the value that much?
Yes. A fresh lithium pack can add 20% or more to a cart’s value, while tired lead-acid batteries can subtract a similar amount, often the single biggest swing factor after brand, model and year.
