Privacy Policy
What Golf Cart Lab collects when you read a guide, use a tool or place an order, who we share it with, and how to make us delete it.
Golf Cart Lab publishes free diagnostic guides and tools, and sells golf cart parts. This policy covers both. We keep the data we hold deliberately small, because the less we store the less there is to lose.
01. Who we are
This site is operated by Golf Cart Lab LLC, a registered US company. Golf Cart Lab LLC is the data controller for the information described here.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@golfcartlab.com. It is a monitored inbox and our team answers it.
02. Information we collect
When you place an order
To sell you a part and get it delivered we need to collect and store:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your billing address
- Your shipping address
- Your phone number, which carriers require for delivery and freight scheduling
- What you ordered, what you paid, and the order history attached to your account
If you create an account, we also store your username and an encrypted password. We never see your password in readable form.
When you contact us
If you email us or use the contact form, we receive whatever you choose to send: your name, email address, message, and anything you attach such as photographs, meter readings or fault codes. We keep that correspondence so we can follow up and so the next person asking the same question gets a better answer.
Collected automatically
Like almost every website, our host and our analytics record technical information when a page loads: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and the pages you viewed. This is aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
What we do not collect
We do not see or store your full card number. We do not ask for a date of birth, a government identification number, or any special category data such as health, religion or political opinion. We do not buy personal data from data brokers, and we do not sell your data to anyone, for any price, ever.
03. How we use information
- To fulfil your order. Taking payment, arranging delivery, sending confirmations and tracking, handling returns and warranty claims.
- To answer you. Replying to questions about a part, a fault, a guide or an order.
- To run and improve the site. Understanding which guides and tools people actually use, and fixing what is broken.
- To meet legal obligations. Keeping the transaction records that tax and accounting rules require us to keep.
- To prevent fraud and abuse. Protecting the site, our customers and ourselves.
We do not use your order data to advertise to you, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked us to.
04. Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. When you pay, your card details are transmitted directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers and never visible to us.
What we receive back from Stripe is confirmation that the payment succeeded, the card brand, and the last four digits, which is what lets us identify your payment if you contact us about a refund.
Stripe processes your payment data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, which you should read at stripe.com/privacy.
05. Fulfilling your order
When you place an order, it is fulfilled through our US distribution network and shipped directly to you.
To make that happen we share your name, shipping address, phone number and the items you ordered with that partner. We share it only to fulfil your order. It is not used to market to you, and it is not sold on.
Your parts arrive in plain packaging with no third party invoice or pricing inside. Carriers involved in the delivery receive your name, address and phone number, which is unavoidable if you want the parcel to arrive.
06. Cookies and tracking
We use a deliberately small number of cookies:
- Essential cookies that keep your shopping cart and your login session working. The site cannot function without these.
- Analytics cookies that count visits so we know which guides are useful.
We do not run advertising on this site, we do not serve ad network cookies, and we do not operate cross site retargeting. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings, though blocking the essential ones will break checkout.
07. Service providers
We keep the stack small on purpose. These are the third parties that can process data on our behalf:
| Provider | What it does | What it can see |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing | Card and billing details you enter at checkout |
| Fulfilment and logistics providers | Picking, packing and shipping your order | Name, shipping address, phone, items ordered |
| Hostinger | Web hosting | Server logs including IP address |
| Automattic (Jetpack) | Traffic statistics, contact form, spam filtering, email subscriptions | Page views, IP address, form submissions |
Each is bound to use the data only to provide its service to us.
08. How long we keep data
- Order records: kept for seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it.
- Account details: kept until you ask us to close the account.
- Email correspondence: kept for up to two years, then deleted.
- Analytics: aggregate traffic data, retained in aggregate form.
09. Your privacy rights
Everyone
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@golfcartlab.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to keep completed order records where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that applies.
EEA, UK and Switzerland
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Our lawful bases are set out in full on our GDPR Compliance page.
California
Under the CCPA and CPRA you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request deletion, and correct inaccurate information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law, so there is nothing for you to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
Other US states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas, have comparable rights of access, correction, deletion and portability. Use the same email address and we will handle your request the same way.
10. Children’s privacy
This site is intended for adults maintaining and repairing golf carts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS throughout. Payment card data goes directly to Stripe and never touches our systems, which removes the single largest category of risk. Administrative access is limited and protected by strong authentication.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
12. International transfers
Golf Cart Lab LLC is a United States company and our hosting and service providers are principally in the United States. If you access this site from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy law differs from your own.
Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard. See the GDPR Compliance page for detail.
13. Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting how we handle your data will be flagged clearly on the site.
Ask what we hold, or ask us to delete it
Tell us what you want and we will action it within 30 days. No forms, no hoops, no account required.
