SPE ChargePlus 36V 25A Universal SB175 Battery Charger
Choosing a golf cart charger
Chargers are sold by plug, so start at the receptacle on the cart where the charger plugs in: its shape, its pin count and its color. One brand can use two or three different plugs at the same voltage. E-Z-GO and Yamaha each used two different 48V receptacles, which is why the E-Z-GO triangle and TXT plugs, and the Yamaha G19/G22 and Drive/G29 plugs, have their own listings.
Then check two more facts. Count the batteries for the pack voltage: six 6V batteries are 36V, six 8V or four 12V are 48V. And read one battery label for the type: flooded lead-acid has caps you top up with water, AGM and gel are sealed, and lithium says LiFePO4.
Match the battery type
- SPE ChargePlus. Each unit is programmed for one battery type, flooded, AGM, gel or lithium, and the title says which.
- TORO720. A 48V 15A smart charger with Bluetooth monitoring, supplied with one cart plug. Where the title names lithium, that is the pack it is for; for the others, tell us your battery and we confirm the profile with the supplier.
- Factory lithium. The E-Z-GO ELiTE chargers suit only factory ELiTE batteries, and our Club Car lithium chargers do not suit factory Vanguard lithium.
If the charger works but its plug is burnt or cracked, a charger cable replaces the plug and lead without a new charger. Universal SB175 chargers suit carts converted to a gray SB175 connector; the 24V unit is for lifts and scrubbers, not golf carts. A new lithium pack from our batteries page already comes with its charger.
Before you order
A flat pack, a worn receptacle or a Club Car onboard computer makes many healthy chargers look dead. Start with why a golf cart charger will not charge, then use A Beginner's Guide to Replacing a Golf Cart Charger to find your row by plug, voltage and battery type.
Chargers FAQ
How do I know which charger fits my golf cart?
Match three facts: the receptacle on the cart (shape, pins and color), the pack voltage and the battery type. The receptacle decides the listing, because one brand can use several plugs at the same voltage.
Can I use a lead-acid charger on lithium batteries?
No. A lithium pack needs a lithium charge profile. Choose a charger whose title says lithium, or use the charger that came with your lithium pack.
Will a lithium charger work with my factory E-Z-GO ELiTE or Club Car lithium pack?
The E-Z-GO ELiTE chargers suit only factory ELiTE batteries. Our Club Car lithium chargers do not suit factory Vanguard lithium, so a Club Car with a factory lithium pack needs the charger its maker specifies.
My charger plug is damaged. Do I need a new charger?
Not if the charger itself still works. A pigtail cable replaces the plug and lead, as long as your charger's output lead ends in an SB50 connector.
My charger will not start. Is it broken?
Often not. A pack drained too low, a worn receptacle or the Club Car onboard computer can stop a good charger. Work through why a charger will not charge first.
