How to find the lithium battery that fits your cart

The Lithium Battery Bundle Finder at the top of this page matches a lithium battery to your golf cart. A few one-tap questions, and it ends on the packs that fit, each as a bundle you can order. It is free and there is no sign-up.

  1. Pick your cart. Choose the make and model, or type the serial number of a Club Car, E-Z-GO or Yamaha.
  2. Count the batteries. That gives the voltage, and the lithium pack has to match it.
  3. Tell us your day. Miles, hills, riders, cold charging, the controller and 12V accessories, one tap each.
  4. Measure the tray, or skip it. Pick length, width and height from the lists.
  5. Choose a pack and check out. Press Build my bundle on the pack you want. The bundle adds whatever your cart needs with it, and Checkout now takes you straight to checkout.

Examples: from your cart to your bundle

A Club Car Precedent that does a round a day

  1. Choose Club Car, then Precedent, 2008 and newer, then 48V.
  2. Tap 20 miles, Rolling hills, One or two riders, No, Stock and No.
  3. Skip the tray, or measure it.

What you get: about 79Ah or more at 51.2V, and the 105Ah packs that fit a Precedent first. Each card shows the size, the miles it gives on your day, the weight and whether it is heated. Press Build my bundle on the one you want.

An E-Z-GO RXV, and you like the MODZ packs

  1. Choose E-Z-GO, then the RXV with your tray. Lift the seat: the tray under the batteries is molded plastic or metal.
  2. Answer your day, then press Build my bundle on a MODZ pack.

What you get: where the MODZ chart calls for its RXV mounting bracket with that pack, the bracket is already in your bundle, with the reason next to it.

A 36V Club Car DS

  1. Choose Club Car, then DS, then 36V. Six 6 volt batteries with 3 caps each make it a 36V cart.
  2. Answer your day.

What you get: the 38.4V packs that replace a 36V set. The MODZ 48V packs sit on Will not fit, with the reason: a 36V cart needs a 48V controller and motor first.

A cart that lives in a cold garage

Answer Yes to the freezing question. Best for your day then holds only packs with built-in heating, and the rest are marked Not heated.

A lifted cart with a Navitas controller

Tap Lifted or working hard and Upgraded. The amp-hours go up, because a lifted cart uses more energy a mile, and only packs rated 500A peak or higher stay in the fit tabs.

Any other make

Choose Another make, count the batteries, then measure the tray. Packs that fit any cart, such as the Lithium Rhino CUBE, show straight away; the rest move up once your tray sizes clear them.

What comes in the bundle

A lithium swap is more than a battery. The bundle lists everything your cart gets, each item at its own price, with the reason it is there.

You chooseIn the boxAdded when your cart needs it
A Lithium Rhino bundleThe battery, a lithium charger, a 12V DC-DC converter, a state-of-charge display, mounting hardware and cablesNothing else for the pack
A MODZ bundleThe battery, an onboard charger, mounting brackets and a state-of-charge displayA 12V converter if you run 12V accessories, and the MODZ RXV bracket where the MODZ chart calls for it
A Lithium Rhino battery onlyThe batteryFor a cart that already has the Rhino charger, display and converter

The Club Car onboard computer. Club Car 48V carts from 1995 to 2013 with an active onboard computer need it bypassed when the charger changes. Our OBC bypass guide shows how.

Lithium packs ship by freight, not parcel. Freight is charged separately and confirmed before dispatch.

How to measure your battery tray

  1. Take the old batteries out. A full tray hides the real floor and walls.
  2. Length (L): front to back, at the narrowest point.
  3. Width (W): side to side, at the narrowest point. Hold-down bars or a raised lip can take an inch.
  4. Height (H): from the tray floor to the lowest thing above it with the seat down, usually the seat frame.
  5. Round down to the half inch and pick each size in the Tray step.

FAQ

Lithium golf cart battery FAQs

Which lithium battery fits my golf cart?
It depends on the cart, the voltage and the space in the battery tray. Pick your cart in the Lithium Battery Bundle Finder, count the batteries to confirm 36V, 48V or 72V, and it lists the lithium packs that fit, checked against the MODZ fit chart and Lithium Rhino’s own fitment, with the tray size each one needs.
What lithium battery fits a Club Car Precedent?
On a 2008 and newer 48V Precedent, the Lithium Rhino 50Ah, 65Ah and 105Ah CUBE and the MODZ 60Ah and 105Ah Nano and 105Ah Slim fit directly. The heated Rhino 120Ah and the MODZ 175Ah Blade fit with minor tray work. On a 2004 to 2008 Precedent the MODZ Slim and Blade do not fit; the Rhino CUBE and the MODZ Nano do.
What lithium battery fits a Club Car DS?
On a 48V DS, the Lithium Rhino 50Ah, 65Ah and 105Ah CUBE and the MODZ 60Ah and 105Ah Nano fit. Lithium Rhino says its 120Ah packs do not fit a DS, and the MODZ chart rules out the Slim and the Blade. A 36V DS takes a 38.4V pack such as the Rhino 65Ah or the MODZ 60Ah Nano.
What lithium battery fits an E-Z-GO TXT or RXV?
A 48V TXT takes the Lithium Rhino 50Ah, 65Ah, 105Ah CUBE and heated 120Ah directly, and the MODZ Slim; the MODZ Nano and Blade need minor tray work. On an RXV the Rhino 50Ah, 65Ah and CUBE fit, the heated Rhino 120Ah does not, and some MODZ packs need the MODZ RXV mounting bracket, which the finder adds to your bundle when it is needed.
What lithium battery fits a Yamaha Drive or Drive2?
Every MODZ 48V case fits a Yamaha Drive (G29), Drive2 or G19 and G22 directly on the MODZ chart, as do the Lithium Rhino 50Ah, 65Ah and 105Ah CUBE. Lithium Rhino says its 120Ah fits most Yamahas, so measure the tray for that one.
What comes in a lithium battery bundle?
A Lithium Rhino bundle has the battery, a lithium charger, a 12V DC-DC converter, a state-of-charge display, mounting hardware and cables. A MODZ bundle has the battery, an onboard charger, mounting brackets and a display. The finder adds a 12V converter to a MODZ bundle if you run 12V accessories, and the MODZ RXV bracket where your cart needs it.
How many amp-hours of lithium does my golf cart need?
Multiply your daily miles by about 110Wh a mile on flat ground, 150Wh on rolling hills or 200Wh on steep or heavily loaded runs, allow for the 90% of a lithium pack you can use plus some spare, and divide by the pack voltage. Twenty miles on rolling hills in a 48V cart works out at about 80Ah, so a 105Ah pack covers it. The finder does this for you.
Can I put a 48V lithium battery in a 36V golf cart?
Not as a straight swap. A pack does not change the cart: a 36V controller, motor, solenoid and charger stay 36V. The MODZ chart marks its 48V packs on 36V carts as needing an upgraded controller and motor first. Pick a 38.4V pack to stay at 36V.
Do I need a new charger with a lithium battery?
Yes. A lead-acid charger is not safe on a lithium pack, even with the same plug. Every bundle in the finder includes its own charger. The Rhino battery-only option is for a cart that already has the Rhino charger, display and converter.
Do I need a heated lithium battery?
If the cart is charged somewhere that drops below freezing, yes. Charging lithium cells below freezing damages them, and a heated pack warms itself before it accepts a charge. Tell the finder you charge in the cold and it puts the heated packs first.
How are lithium golf cart batteries shipped?
By freight, not parcel. The packs are heavy and ship on a pallet, so someone needs to be there to receive it. Freight is charged separately and confirmed before dispatch.
