Overview
Star EV carts with a 48V DC drivetrain and the Curtis 1268 non-ITS controller can be converted to AC with this Navitas kit. It replaces the DC motor and the stock controller with a Navitas 5kW AC motor and a 600A TAC2 controller with Bluetooth. This is the standard version of the kit. If your cart uses a CAN data network, order the CAN version instead and contact us if you are not sure which you need.
The kit includes a Navitas module made for the Star EV non-ITS system, so the controller connects to the cart properly instead of through improvised wiring. You also get the On-The-Fly programmer, speed sensor and motor temperature harness, mounting plate and hardware, and the motor phase cable.
After conversion the cart gains stronger torque, regenerative braking and adjustable speed, with Bluetooth diagnostics in the Navitas app.

Read the controller label. It must be a Curtis 1268 without ITS.
Confirm the cart runs 48V.
Newer Star EV models use different drivetrains, so send us a photo of the controller label if you are not certain.

Requirements and install notes
This is a full drivetrain conversion. The DC motor and the stock controller both come out, and the Navitas AC motor and TAC2 controller go in.
Disconnect the battery pack and discharge the controller before you touch any terminal. Follow the Navitas TAC2 installation manual step by step.
Check the main battery cables, terminals and solenoid before installation. Worn wiring limits what any AC system can deliver.
The On-The-Fly programmer lets the driver adjust speed, acceleration and regenerative braking on the move, with a key lock to hold the settings. Deeper settings are adjusted in the Navitas app over Bluetooth.
Plan on a half day or more for a first-time install. If you are not comfortable working on a 48V traction system, have the kit installed by a qualified golf cart technician.
A Navitas module for the Star EV non-ITS system is included.

Navitas TAC2 AC systems carry a 24 month warranty from the ship date, handled by us. Proof of purchase is required. Labour, damage from incorrect installation, wrong voltage, overload and non-OEM part substitution are not covered. See our returns and refunds policy for the full process.
