Overview
The Curtis 1206MX-4301 is a new 36V, 350A controller for E-Z-GO carts with the PDS (Precision Drive System) drive and an ITS throttle sensor. PDS carts are built with a Curtis 1206MX, and this is the same controller family in a 350A rating, which makes it a higher-current replacement.
Performance on a PDS cart is chosen by the option plug in the controller's 5-pin J2 port, and this controller reads it the same way. If your cart has a plug fitted, it carries over.
It is sold as the controller on its own. Your cart's harness, solenoid, speed sensor and motor stay in place, and the controller connects through the plugs already on the cart.

How to confirm it fits
Read the label on the controller under the seat. A Curtis 1206MX means a PDS cart.
PDS and DCS carts look alike. The label tells them apart: DCS carts carry a Curtis 1206SX.
Check the pack voltage. Six 6V batteries make a 36V pack.
Send us a photo of the label if it is hard to read and we will match it for you.

Requirements and install notes
Switch the cart to Tow and disconnect the battery pack before you touch any terminal.
Check the motor with an ohmmeter first, with the motor disconnected: A1 to A2 between 0.3 and 1 ohm, F1 to F2 between 1 and 2 ohms, A1 to F1 open, and F1 to the motor case above 5 megohms. A motor outside those ranges will damage a new controller.
Check the main solenoid: the coil should read no less than 100 ohms, and the closed contacts less than 0.3 ohm. A tired solenoid is worth replacing while the controller is out.
If the solenoid has a suppression diode, its non-banded side goes to the blue wire from controller pin J1-6.
Inspect the insulating pad between the controller and the heat sink for holes, debris or tears, and replace it if it is damaged.
Check the harness connectors for corroded, loose, burnt or missing pins before you plug them in.
The reed switch in the charger receptacle is a common PDS fault. With the charger unplugged, J1 pin 4 should read pack voltage.
A PDS cart can beep its fault codes through the reverse alarm in diagnostic mode, so keep the alarm connected.
FAQ
Is this a stock replacement or an upgrade?
It is a 1206MX, the controller family PDS carts are built with, in a 350A rating. That makes it a higher-current replacement that connects through the same plugs as the original.
Do I need a new J2 option plug?
No. Performance options are set by the plug in the J2 port, and the plug on your cart carries over to this controller.
How do I tell a PDS cart from a DCS cart?
Read the controller label. PDS carts run a Curtis 1206MX and DCS carts run a Curtis 1206SX.
Will it work on a cart converted to 48V?
No. This is a 36V controller. For a PDS cart on 36V or 48V that needs more current, the Curtis 1268 500A controller kit for E-Z-GO PDS is the one to look at.
Warranty
This part is new and covered by our returns and refunds policy. We handle any claim for a defective part directly with you. A controller damaged by a shorted motor, a failed solenoid or incorrect wiring is not covered, which is why the checks above come first.
