Overview
This kit replaces the Curtis 1206MX controller on an E-Z-GO PDS cart with a Curtis 1268 SepEx controller rated at 500A, for a 36V or 48V pack. The cart keeps its motor: the kit changes the controller and supplies the parts to connect and mount it.
With the controller come an adapter harness that plugs into the cart's existing connectors, a walk-away relay harness with its fuse, an adapter plate for the heat sink and a hardware kit. A 3-wire adapter connects the cart's speed sensor to the new controller.
The controller is programmed for your cart before it ships. After you order we email you to confirm your cart and pack voltage, so it arrives set up for it.
The 500A rating gives the cart more power and speed than the 1206MX it replaces, which shows most on hills and with a full load.

How to confirm it fits
Read the label on the controller under the seat. A Curtis 1206MX means a PDS cart and this kit applies.
PDS and DCS carts look alike. The label tells them apart: DCS carts carry a Curtis 1206SX.
Note your pack voltage, 36V or 48V, so we can set the controller up to match.
Send us a photo of the label if it is hard to read and we will match it for you.

Requirements and install notes
Before you start, switch to Tow, disconnect the battery positive cable and lift the rear wheels off the ground.
Tools: a 1/4 in. drive with a 6 in. extension, 7, 10, 11, 13 and 14 mm sockets, 7, 10, 13 and 16 mm wrenches and a 5/32 Allen wrench.
The 1206MX, its cover and the contactor bracket come off. The bracket is refitted to the floor pan in front of the new controller, and the Tow/Run switch moves to the plate supplied.
Remove the pre-charge resistor completely. It is not used with the 1268.
The adapter plate bolts to the heat sink with the three original controller screws, and the 1268 bolts to the plate with its terminals up.
Cut the connectors off both motor field wires, strip 10 mm (3/8 in.) and crimp on the ring terminals supplied, then connect F1 and F2. If the cart runs backwards, check that F1 and F2 are not swapped.
The adapter harness plugs into the 1268 and into all of the cart's original connectors. The 3-wire adapter joins the controller's J2 connector to the speed sensor.
The harness comes with the Freedom plug fitted in the 5-pin performance connector, for higher speeds.
FAQ
Does the kit include a motor?
No. It is a controller kit and the cart keeps its own motor. Everything needed to connect and mount the new controller is in the box.
What do you need from me to program it?
We email you after the order to confirm your cart and pack voltage, so the controller arrives set up for it.
Do I have to cut any wires?
Only the two motor field wires. Their push-on connectors are cut off and replaced with the ring terminals in the kit. Everything else plugs in through the adapter harness.
Can I run it on a 48V pack?
Yes. The controller is rated for 36V and 48V packs. Tell us which one you run so it is programmed to match.
Warranty
This part is new and covered by our returns and refunds policy. We handle any claim for a defective part directly with you. A controller damaged by a shorted motor, a failed solenoid or incorrect wiring is not covered, so it is worth testing the motor and solenoid before you fit the kit.
