Overview
This kit replaces the Curtis 1510 (IQ) or Curtis 1515 (Excel) controller on a 48V Club Car with a Curtis 1268 SepEx controller rated at 500A, supplied with Club Car programming. The cart keeps its motor.
With the controller come a conversion harness that plugs into the cart's factory 16 pin and 4 pin connectors, a walk-away relay harness and a hardware kit. The kit instructions cover both mounting layouts: the DS and IQ layout, and the Precedent layout used by IQ and Excel carts.
The controller is programmed for your cart before it ships. After you order we email you to confirm your cart and pack voltage, so it arrives set up for it.
One thing to know: 2009 model IQ carts with a Hall effect throttle need converting to an MCOR accelerator before this kit will work.

How to confirm it fits
Read the label on your controller. A Curtis 1510 means IQ and a Curtis 1515 means Excel. This kit covers both.
Check the throttle. The kit works with the MCOR accelerator. A 2009 model IQ cart with a Hall effect throttle needs the MCOR conversion first.
Check the pack voltage. Six 8V or four 12V batteries make a 48V pack.
Send us a photo of the label if it is hard to read and we will match it for you.

Requirements and install notes
Before you start, lift the drive wheels off the ground, turn the key off, switch Run/Tow to Tow and disconnect the battery pack. Eye protection is recommended.
Tools: a socket wrench with 10, 11 and 14 mm sockets, a 13 mm wrench and a 5/32 Allen wrench, plus a drill for the mounting holes.
Label the heavy cables (B+, M-, B-, F1 and F2) before the old controller comes off.
Drill four M6 holes in the controller mounting plate using the pattern in the instructions, and check that the existing cables will reach the new posts.
On Precedent and Excel carts the Tow/Run switch moves to a new hole on the plate. On some model years a flange welded to the plate behind the 1515 has to be removed first.
Cut the quick connect terminals off the F1 and F2 cables, strip the ends and crimp on the M6 ring terminals supplied.
Take the pre-charge resistor off the main contactor. The red and yellow walk-away wires go one on each large contactor post, either way round.
After the pack is reconnected, the charger may need to be plugged in for a few seconds so the on-board computer resets.
FAQ
Does one kit cover both IQ and Excel carts?
Yes. The conversion harness plugs into the factory 16 pin and 4 pin connectors used with the Curtis 1510 and the Curtis 1515, and the instructions cover both mounting layouts.
Does the kit include a motor?
No. It is a controller kit and the cart keeps its own motor.
Do I have to drill anything?
Yes. The 1268 bolts to your cart's controller mounting plate through four M6 holes, drilled with the pattern printed in the instructions.
Will it work with a Hall effect throttle?
Not as it stands. A 2009 model IQ cart with a Hall effect throttle has to be converted to an MCOR accelerator first.
